Horses 103: Preparing to Ride
Learn how to safely prepare a horse for riding and understand the responsibilities that come with it
Service Description
Horses 103 is designed for children ages 6 and up who are ready to learn what happens before a rider ever gets in the saddle. This hands-on, unmounted class introduces the equipment, preparation, and safety practices involved in getting a horse ready to ride. Students will learn the names and purposes of common tack, basic grooming before a ride, how to saddle and bridle a horse, equipment safety checks, and proper behavior in the riding area. They'll also gain a better understanding of what riders are responsible for before and after a lesson. This class helps young horse enthusiasts build confidence, develop responsibility, and deepen their understanding of the horse-and-rider partnership. Completion of Horses 101 and/or Horses 102 is recommended. No riding is included in this class.
